Time to celebrate the Spirit of Christmas!
Christ the King is proud to host a tournament in the Christmas season and have named our tournament the “Spirit of Christmas Tournament”. Our goal is to link the Spirit of Christmas with the games on the courts with the people in the stands and through giving to those who are less fortunate than us. All proceeds from the gate and the snack stand will be given to a Diocese of Oakland, CYO Sports Grant Fund that assists local CYO programs that need financial resources.
Admissions: Admission is $3 per person or a donation to the Oakland Diocese CYO Sports Grant Fund. That program provides assistance to CYO programs in the East Bay that lack the resources to improve and run their programs. Your donations can be made in cash, or check made out to Oakland Diocese CYO Sports Grant Fund. Gifts of $25 or more will receive a thank you letter in the mail that can be used for tax purposes. A donation of any size will allow all members of your family admission to all games in the tournament.
Trophies and awards: Trophies will be handed out after the final games for First and Second place teams. Additionally, players will receive a participation gift at the end of their first game.
Rules The tournament is following CYO rules with the exception of the following:
– 4 quarters of a 7-minute stop clock.
– First quarter broken down into 2 -3:30 second periods to allow for to ensure all players are in the game at least 1⁄2 of first quarter.
Snacks: On sale we will have sodas, waters, sports drinks, and candy and energy bars. So plan on loading up while you watch the games, remember, it’s healthy snacking as long as your watching sports. We will also have on sale a limited number of “Sprit of Christmas “ Tournament bracelets for the low price of $2.
Special thanks to Steve Murphy, Thom Martin, Joe Dalpiaz, Vince Cirelli and all our coaches and volunteers who are making this special tournament possible.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
