Great Season Everyone!

Hi everyone,
As we close up the basketball program, we have tons to be proud of this season.  More than 30 percent of our teams played in some playoff game, either at the national or american level.  And exactly 100 percent of our teams played hard all season long!  Kudos to everyone on such a rewarding season.
A couple things for you as parents:
1. Later this week you will all be receiving a link to a small survey asking you to share your experience during the season.  I hope you will take the time to complete it (should be done in about 5 minutes) and please send it back by 3/21.
2.  Many of you have asked, so what is next?  Well, we are often contacted by various schools and programs that offer basketball, or more generally, Spring and Summer camps.  We will list those links at our web site under the page: Summer 2016.  If you visit now, you’ll find the link to all Summer Camps available at De La Salle.  We will continue to update it as we learn about more programs close to the Parish.
That’s it for now.  Thanks for all your support and as always, stay in touch.  We will be back in a few months with thoughts about some Summer training programs and planning for next year!
See you on the Court!

Crab Feed Tickets Now Available

Hi Everyone.

Before we head off for holiday break, one quick announcement regarding the Christ the King CYO Crab Feed. The event is scheduled for January 30, 6:00 – 11:00 p.m. at the CTK Gym.

This adult-only event is the largest fundraiser for our program.  It will feature delicious crab, tri-tip and all the wonderful times many of us have become accustomed to over the decades (yep, we are now approaching the event’s 20th year!).

Thanks to some wonderful new thinking, we are going to make ticket sales a little easier this year.  Here are a couple of notes to guide you:

1. Click on the link below and you will be taken to an eventbrite page specific to the event.  Go ahead and buy a table if you like.  Yes, it is that easy.  Just pick, click and pay.

2. We will have a bar with talented staff pouring wine, beer and an assortment of drinks.  Please know that if you choose to bring your own wine (and you certainly can), we like to charge a small corkage fee.  It is a fundraiser, and I know we all understand that.

3. There will be a DJ, so bring your best kicks to help us dance after a great dinner.

For those of you who wish to purchase tickets on campus, our team will be making tickets (individual and table) available after select masses. The schedule follows:

  1. Dec 26- after 5pm
  2. Dec 27- after 8, 9:15 & 10:45
  3. Jan 9- after 5pm
  4. Jan 10- after 8, 9:15, & 10:45

This year’s event will sell out.  So don’t wait to purchase your tickets.

Many thanks.  And from all of us, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Tip-Off Time!

Dear CTK Coaches and Families,

Welcome to another exciting year of Christ the King CYO Basketball! I hope that you are all enjoying the program so far and are as excited as I am with several teams playing their first league games this weekend. I know the kids are working hard and are eager to lace up their shoes and get going!

We are very fortunate to have such a strong program filled with great volunteers. I want to thank everyone for all their time and efforts. The countless hours coaches and parents put into this program never ceases to amaze.  This ministry would not be a success without all of you.  Thank you!

For those of you who were able to attend one of the CYO masses this past weekend, the message was clear. Success for our program will not be based on winning.  Rather the positive experience the kids will enjoy will come from being a part of a team, learning new skills and demonstrating good sportsmanship. To me, if these goals are met, then we’ve all done our job well.

Some final thoughts as we prepare for game time:

  • Please cheer, and cheer appropriately.  Not just for our kids, but for the other teams as well.
  • Support your teams, your coaches, the referees and the fans.  You are all part of the game and it should be a positive experience for everyone!
  • Remember, this ministry is about the children.  Let them enjoy the spirit of competition and teamwork.

I look forward to watching as many games as I can this season and to all the success ahead! Please feel free to reach out to me at anytime during the season.
